I bet there will not be an end to doing things that make us feel young whenever we take a second glance at ourselves in the mirror because everyone wants to be young at heart and soul.

It was a Tuesday afternoon, and I was scrolling through my Instagram feed when I stumbled on one of Rema’s Music Video. FYI, Rema is currently the rave of the moment in Nigeria. I saw how he embellished his braids with pieces of cowries, and I loved it.

The next thing I did was to call my friend ChiChi to help me get few pieces of cowries because I needed to adorn my beautiful healthy locs too, you know, we gotta slay that slay.

I fixed the cowries on my Locs myself and I was gushing over how pretty my Locs are with the few cowries on them even though no one will see them….ooopps, rewind, just a little background information, I am a Muslimah, so I cover my hair.

But beneath my pretty colorful turbans lies a full head of healthy 13 inches Locs which I like to experiment with, from dying my Loc tips wine to changing to purple and giving my Locs whatever it wants.

While fixing the cowries on my Locs with a needle and thread, I went into deep thought as to why I even wanted cowries on my Locs.

Was it because it was nice on Rema’s braids or it is the cool thing that young people do nowadays? I could not decide on a particular reason why, but I knew I wanted to look and feel young and trendy. And attaching a few cowries pieces to my Locs makes me feel younger.

Yeah, younger at 30.

Yes, you can be young at 30! Well, I am young at 30. Or let me just pretend to be.

I clocked 30 years 9 months ago and I feel too old already. So, I try to do the thing that makes me feel young at heart and soul. For example, I fell in love with wrist candies, even though I use them for a little period of time and I forget they exist. The happiness just comes, and I call this youthful exuberance, or let me just say it is joyful exuberance.

I believe everyone has a way of expressing their joyful exuberance. My man, on the other hand, feels certain haircuts and wearing trendy wrist candies makes him young. Well, sorry to break it to you man, you are not young anymore. My creative director believes wearing crazy jeans and bumper jackets make him young.

However, age is nothing but a number. So we can all be young at heart and soul even at 60. Whichever way we express our Joyful exuberance, just do it and watch how it makes you happy from within

Have you ever done something to make you appeal young to others and you? Drop your comments, I would love to read and laugh over your stories.
